Ron McCranie Drums & Percussion WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED? Pensacola, FL WHERE AND WHAT HAVE YOU STUDIED? UT Arlington Music, Theatre, and Finance WHERE AND WHAT HAVE YOU PERFORMED? Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, TX ... Country The Door in Dallas, TX ...Christian Rock and numerous other places like festivals, weddings, private parties and restaurants. WHERE AND WHAT HAVE YOU TAUGHT? Private drumset lessons, Acting, and Music Theory HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC? My parents bought me a keyboard for Christmas when I was 6, they got my brother a guitar and drums, he was 5.I originally had very little interest in the piano and used to play my brother’s drums. He didn’t always like me playing his Christmas present. Eventually, after many hours of “New Kids on the Block”, “Bobby Brown”, “Genesis”, and “Milli-Vanilli”, I began to get pretty good. I ended up playing them so much they started falling apart when I was in 4th Grade. I didn’t get another drumset until 6th Grade. Going into 6th grade I auditioned for band They didn’t believe I could play drums and they ended up putting me on the trombone where I learned patiently for 3 years until my opportunity came. The rest is history. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY IN MUSIC? Probably getting first-chair Jazz Band Drummer in High School when I was a just a freshman. I don’t think the seniors liked it too well when a Trombone player took their spot. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS DISTINCTIVE ABOUT YOUR STYLE? I combine as many styles as I can. I keep to the root of the style I’m playing, but bring some more flavor to the music with complimenting rhythmic styles. WHAT ASPECTS OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE THE MOST? THAT YOU DO BEST! HOW DO THEY RELATE TO MRB? I like the fact that although so many songs are similar in theory, they can be completely different based on the experience and interpretation of the musicians performing them. I like that complete strangers can come together and make such great emotion, stirring art, on stage or in a studio. WHAT'S YOUR FAMILY LIKE? WHAT WAS YOUR UPBRINGING LIKE? ARE THERE OTHER MUSICIANS IN YOUR FAMILY? HOW HAVE YOU BEEN INFLUENCED BY THEM? We are refined rednecks, really, we are! I was brought up with traditional conservative values. I was taught to be honest, work hard, and always keep pushing forward. My dad played a little saxophone in high school and sang in his high school rock band. My mom played some pretty good piano when she was younger. My uncle was the one that played the drums. He’s also the one who enlightened me to the musical masterminds behind “Rush”. WHAT IS YOUR BEST OVERALL QUALITY? My wife says I’m the complete package, but if she had to narrow it down, then it’s my sense of giving and humor that always makes me who I am. I seriously didn’t answer this last question, my wife spoke and I typed. WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO BESIDES MUSIC? Hunt, fish, anything Computers/Technology related, fast cars and 4x4’s, train and spend time with my dogs, and watch chick-flicks with my wife. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN MUSIC? WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR MRB? To be the best all-round musician I can be and to take my talent as far as I can go, constantly improving and moving forward. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN LIFE? Jesus once said, “I wish above ALL things that you be in good health and prosper.” I want to prosper in my family, my friends, my career, my hobbies, my security, and live a long, happy, fun and love filled life. QUOTE ON MUSIC: It is a great act of loving obedience to take the gifts bestowed upon us by God and develop them into life- changing talents so that we can bless ourselves and our neighbors throughout our lives .
